About the NCLEX-RN

The NCLEX-RN exam is a multiple choice exam which uses a computerized adaptive interactive system to gauge a candidates level of competence. The length of the exam varies depending upon the number of items answered correctly. Item difficulty increases for candidates who answer items correctly until mastery is determined. Those who respond incorrectly, receive more items until proficiency (or lack of it) is determined. Between 75 and 265 questions are answered in a 5 hour time limit.
