About the AFQT

The AFQT (Armed Forces Qualification Test) is not a test itself but rather a combination of scores derived from four of the sub tests on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery ASVAB (which is made up of 10 sub tests). The sub tests which make up the AFQT score are: Word Knowledge (WK), Paragraph Comprehension (PC), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), and Mathematics Knowledge (MK). The Verbal sections are counted twice while the math sections are counted only once. A minimum score of 31 percent is required to qualify.

Scores on the AFQT are used to determine your eligibility for enlistment in the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps. AFQT scores are reported as percentiles between 1-99. An AFQT percentile score indicates the percentage of examinees in a reference group who scored at or below that particular score.
