About the Police Test or LEEE

To obtain a job in law enforcement, applicants are required to take the Law Enforcement Entrance Exam and sit for an oral interview. The higher the score on the exam, the sooner a candidate will get an interview. Most exams have between 75 and 150 multiple-choice questions which are broken down into timed sections. The exam takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.

The exams vary depending on the type of job an applicant is applying for. In general, Federal exams include judgment questions while State/County exams focus on traffic maps and patrol tactics. Exams for a city police officer test for general knowledge.

During the oral interview, candidates are questioned by a panel of three to five people for 30 to 60 minutes. Applicants are asked both verifying and probing hypothetical questions.
